We’re back with another round-up of the TV and movies we’ve been watching recently. We’re not just diving into new releases—we’re also highlighting hidden gems across the streaming services you already love. Read on for five new recommendations for what to watch on Netflix and NOW.
The Resident

We’re a bit late to the party here—The Resident wrapped after six seasons in 2023, and we’ve only just started season one. But this medical drama is really filling the void left by our Grey’s Anatomy burnout a few years back. (Did anyone get past the covid season of Grey’s? Is it worth it?).
Packed with compelling characters, thought-provoking storylines, and just the right amount of cheese and humour to balance out the hospital horrors, we’re six episodes in and hooked.
Yellowstone
We’ve heard great things about Yellowstone, but getting through the first two episodes has been a bit of a slog. If not for several enthusiastic recommendations from friends, we might have given up already. Still, we’re sticking with it an will report back with our verdict soon.
The Life List

We talked about this one on the blog recently, but in case you missed it, The Life List is a feelgood Netflix romcom that hit the spot. Find out more in our The Life List review.

The Fall Guy
A little bit silly, a lot of fun, and it stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. The plot is fairly average, but it’s the stunts and the meta twist (a movie about making a movie) that make it worth watching.
The Last of Us
The talk of TV right now is the second season of The Last of Us, which three episodes in is matching up to the epic events of season one. It’s being released weekly, making Monday nights a highlight in this household at the moment.

This is our third round-up, and I wanted to give some updates on shows we’d started but hadn’t yet finished last time.
Emily in Paris – Still haven’t finished season three. It just doesn’t quite match the charm of the first two, does it? On the back burner for now.
From – We’re about to pick this back up, since it’s now on NOW and we’re already subscribed for The Last of Us. We’ve heard it’s incredible—though I’ll definitely need my trusty pillow to hide behind because it’s scary.
The Mentalist – We got really far into this one but stalled just before the big Red John reveal. It’s great for easy watching, though admittedly cheesy and a bit repetitive. The Red John storyline is what keeps you hooked, but those episodes are few and far between.
Outer Banks – We finished most of season one, but haven’t gone back to it yet. I’m considering picking it up again soon.
Manifest – Same story: two episodes in and haven’t continued. Should I?
Loki (Season 2) – Eek. I’m sensing a pattern here…
So tell me—have you watched any of these? Which ones do you think I should stick with?
